Justin Braun traded to the Rangers for a 2023 3rd Round pick

According to @JeffMarek on Twitter, Justin Braun has been traded to the New York Rangers for a 3rd round pick in 2023 with no salary retained.
Justin Braun was in the final year of his 2 x $1.8 million dollar contract with the Flyers. He’s a UFA next season and has 16 points in 61 games this year. Braun should be a very solid option for the Rangers on their 3rd pairing or as an extra defenseman for the playoffs.
The Flyers traded for Braun on June 18th, 2019 from the San Jose Sharks for a 2019 2nd round pick and a 2020 3rd round pick.
Considering Jeremy Lauzon was traded from the Seattle Kraken to the Nashville Predators for a 2022 2nd round pick, this return seems a little underwhelming, but not too bad. The 2023 NHL draft is absolutely loaded and it’s obvious a lot of NHL GMs have preferred 2023 picks over 2022 picks.
Braun was an extremely solid defenseman for the Flyers over the past 2 years and was very good this year after being plopped into a top pairing role with Ryan Ellis going down for the entire season 5 games in.
According to Jeff Marek yet again, the Flyers will apparently be very quiet today outside of the Braun trade. Guys like Martin Jones and Derick Brassard are two players that pop into your mind, but the injury concerns with Brassard are very much there and Jones is having an “ok” season.
With Braun now gone, I’d expect a prospect like Egor Zamula to get called up and get the chance to play some games in the NHL for the rest of the season.
