Will Smith slapped the shit out of Chris Rock at the Oscars
Apparently the Oscars were on television tonight as the Hollywood elite got together to give themselves a bunch of awards for movies that I personally haven’t seen. I have little-to-no interest in any award ceremony and I certainly don’t care about a bunch of bozos in Hollywood drooling over each other about movies I haven’t watched. That was until, Will Smith decided to slap the shit out of Chris Rock.

Damn. That was one hell of a slap. So basically, we have a standard Oscars joke where the host takes a jab at someone in the crowd, followed by a bunch of laughs, including Will Smith. If you pause the video, it’s clear Jada didn’t find the joke funny. Off camera, something then changed in Will Smith’s demeanor and he took the stage to slap Chris Rock.
I have to say, credit to Chris Rock for standing in there and taking that slap like a man. Will Smith hit him hard with a perfect form slap right across the face and rock pretty much ate it and continued on with the rest of the show.
The Oscars desperately needed a ratings bump after years of viewings falling off by the boat load. They finally got one in the most unexpected way possible, with Will Smith getting mad at a joke and slapping the shit of out of Chris Rock.
Honestly, after looking at this year’s best picture nominees, it’s no surprise that the Oscars, along with all other award shows, are completely failing. I mean hell, look at the movies nominated for best picture. Talk about a snooze fest.

After Will Smith slapped Chris Rock, he then won an award for best actor in King Richard. Smith apologized on stage saying “love will make you do crazy things” and then pretty much carried on with an acceptance speech about god knows what while everyone at the show and watching on TV just wanted him to say something about him slapping Chris Rock.
Pretty wild that after slapping the host you have to go back up on stage and accept an award for a movie about a father fiercely defending his family. Sounds like the perfect setup for an apology and maybe a quick laugh but Smith really didn’t capitalize on it. Instead, Smith was on Twitter and said “Whelp” shortly after the incident, then continued saying the following…

LOL. Smith continued on Twitter saying “sorry if you’re offended” and that he would apologize to Chris Rock once he gets a personal apology from him. Will Smith has done it all in Hollywood and clearly doesn’t give a shit anymore. I completely respect it. He doesn’t have to apologize to anyone. As for anyone that’s offended, I would love to hear from you.
How can you be offended that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on TV? Who gives a shit? Offended about what exactly? I honestly can’t think of a reason why you would care. It’s pure entertainment.

Few more thoughts…
Will Smith should know that if he’s attending one of these award shows and sitting up front, it’s likely he’s going to get called out in some jokes from whoever is hosting. Jada should know that as well. I would think that if you’re dressing up and attending the Oscars, you’d be able to make some jokes about whatever you’re going through.
Sure, Chris Rock is an idiot. Jada Pinkett-Smith’s hair isn’t a style choice. Her hair loss is the result of the autoimmune disorder alopecia. In past videos, Jada has laughed about her hair situation as well but I guess being called out on national television is where she draws the line.
Will Smith (unfortunately) can’t just go on stage and slap the shit out of someone. I love it, trust me. I want more slapping at award shows already, but apparently that’s frowned upon.
From there, we now have talks of Will Smith losing his Oscar for best acting performance. That shouldn’t happen either. The Academy isn’t exactly all high and mighty when it comes to handing out awards. A slap is the least of their worries if you ask me (Roman Polanski, Harvey Weinstein, etc.)

Strong disagree. We should be slapping more people, Brittany. Will Smith should have slapped Chris Rock again when he went up there to accept his award for best actor. At the very least, he should have pretended he was going to slap him just to make Chris Rock flinch like a little baby and think twice about making eye contact with Smith ever again.

The Oscars need a ratings boost and I could watch Will Smith go around slapping people all night long. I will definitely be watching King Richard sometime soon (probably not) to show my support for Smith.
