Eagles announce the return of the Kelly Green jersey and a new jersey combination for the upcoming season

The Philadelphia Eagles will be making two massive uniform changes in the coming seasons. Owner Jeffrey Lurie spoke with the media this afternoon and announced the team would be introducing a black helmet with their black jerseys in 2022 and bringing back the infamous Kelly Green in 2023.
The black helmet addition is possible thanks to the two-shell rule that goes into effect this season. This will be the first time since 1973 that they have worn a helmet that wasn’t primarily green and the first time they’ve donned a black helmet.
The Eagles finally did it
It’s unclear what rendition of the Kelly green will be returning, but based on the Eagles’ social media post, and it looks to be the 90s Randall Cunningham design. Teams like the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers also announced they would be introducing throwbacks, but were pushed to 2023 due to supply chain issues. It’s unclear if that’s the case here, but it’s the likely reason.
Many fans have been begging for years for the Kelly Green jerseys to come back, and now their wish has just come true. Unfortunately, we will have to wait another year for them, but it will definitely be refreshing to see a new jersey combination take the field this upcoming season.Â
