Budweiser releases special edition Phillies beer can ahead of Opening Day
Phillies Opening Day can’t come soon enough. Even with the MLB failing to acknowledge the Fightins’ in their Opening Day promotional video, the vibes around this team are immaculate. A lineup that features reigning MVP Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos, JT Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber, and Rhys Hoskins should never be ignored. Balls are going to be FLYING out of Citizens Bank Park all summer long.
With a new baseball season, new beer and food promotions are popping up everywhere. I’ll have more on that later. I asked Ryan Conway, who used to do a cooking show on The Liberty Line called “Cooking Papa” to write up a post about all new offerings at Citizens Bank Park this season and he replied with a thumbs up emoji and then never did it.
The worst.
Right now, we’re going to focus on the most important part of baseball season. Beer.
Budweiser has released a full set of special edition beer cans featuring every MLB franchise. The Phillies’ version is beautiful, using the 1980s’ maroon and baby blue colorway with the throwback P in the middle of the can. Just looking at this thing makes me want to ditch work and load up a cooler down in the CBP parking lots and start tailgating now for Friday’s home opener.
In the past, the Phillies had Yuengling branded beer cans. Not sure if the switch came after a down year from Aaron Nola in 2021?
Regardless, much like the Phillies lineup and the hype surrounding this team, we’re now upgrading this summer to a “Bud Heavy Summer”.
Side Note: I recently learned that the majority of people don’t call regular Budweisers “Bud Heavies” – where did that start and why do I say that? No clue.
Anyways, 14 teams have their own designs, but unbiased opinion, the Phillies have the best one out of the group. That throwback logo is just too clean and the marketing standpoint is incredible. Who still drinks Bud Heavy’s as their first beer option? Probably no one, but I definitely will be now.
