The Sixers were just as shocked as you were that Danny Green dunked

The Sixers took care of business last night to notch another win in their opening round series against the Toronto Raptors. With their win last night, the Sixers took a commanding two games to none lead over the hapless Raptors. While Joel Embiid led the way with scoring with 31 points and 11 rebounds, a different member of the team put the exclamation point on this victory.
Danny Green threw down a dunk that shook Toronto so bad Justin Trudeau nearly had to declare a national emergency.
That’s right. All 34 years of Danny Green got airborne late in the fourth quarter as the Sixers pulled away. If you were shocked, you weren’t alone.
The Sixers shared in the shock of the electrifying moment.
During his post game comments, Tobias Harris captured the mood of every Sixers fan when he said: “Yo! That was crazy because Danny never dunks. I was really shocked because I thought he was gonna pass me the ball in the corner and then he went up and I was like ‘Oh no!’ and I was like ‘Oh —!’ That was tough though Danny, that’s SportsCenter. They still do top 10? That’s number 1 then.”
Tyrese Maxey revealed that the dunk was premeditated:
“We played Toronto at Toronto a couple weeks ago and I threw him an almost identical pass and Boucher blocked it. I said ‘Danny, you just gotta try to dunk it’ and he said ‘I got you in the playoffs’ so he dunked it today.”
When he wasn’t clarifying his exchange with noted crybaby Nick Nurse, Joel Embiid even poked fun at Danny Green in the press conference. Jokingly pointing out how improbable it was. “Ok yeah, they’re gonna drug test him tomorrow.”
Danny Green wouldn’t be shocked if that were to happen. The last time he dunked with the Lakers back in 2019 he was greeted with a drug test.
I don’t want to say this moment was iconic, but it was definitely defining. The fact that the Sixers victory was so complete that Danny Green, a man who almost never dunks, was able to do so shows the level of control the 76ers have heading into Game 3 in Toronto tomorrow night.
