Joel Embiid told Nick Nurse to “stop bitching about calls” after 76ers destroy Raptors

Joel Embiid dominated in the 76ers’ Game 2 win over the Toronto Raptors tonight. Part of that dominance came at the free-throw line, where he hit 12/14 attempts. Opposing coach Nick Nurse was visibly in disbelief throughout the contest, a sentiment which traces back to comments he made during two separate media availability sessions. Of course, he spent those sessions complaining about the officials, specifically those frequent trips to the charity stripe.

Well, Embiid heard those comments and made sure to confront Nurse after the final buzzer:

I was already looking forward to the post-game press conference fireworks after a lopsided beatdown like that, but that little exchange had me on the edge of my seat. Like countless other Sixers fans, I asked out loud, “What did he say to him?

Fortunately, the pressers started, and we got our answer:

I mean, there’s not much else to say. Joel Embiid is 100% correct. The Raptors and their coach needs to stop complaining about free throws because he will keep hitting them.

The Raptors fouled him all night long. Nobody on that roster is big enough to stop him, so they send double and triple teams to hack at the ball. So it’s not surprising that many bodies create contact and, logically, a foul.

The majority of Embiid FTAs came in the first quarter. Nurse had his team try and match his physicality, but that clearly was not a viable option.

If they keep crying over being punished for lousy defense instead of making adjustments, the Raptors and their fans can bitch about free throws from their couch for three more rounds of the Playoffs. Until then, we’ll see them in Toronto for Game 3.

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.
