Chad Johnson eyeing NFL comeback: Should the Eagles pursue him?

Earlier this month, we saw the return of Terrell Owens in the Fan Controlled Football league. The 48-year old T.O. caught a touchdown pass and sparked a conversation about him pulling a Tom Brady and returning to the NFL. Now, it looks like we have another veteran wide receiver looking to follow Owens in attempting to make a return to professional football.

Ochocinco has pushed to return on numerous occasions and is arguably in better shape than TO is. The 44-year old last played for the Monterrey Fundidores in Mexico in 2017. Last season, Johnson pleaded with the Saints on Twitter to let him play.
With how wild the NFL offseason has been, it wouldn’t shock me in the slightest if Johnson is back on the field for the Bengals again in 2022. For several years he’s been hyping up this young Bengals core, and Owens returning might just be the push he needs.
If Cincinnati doesn’t want him, bring Johnson to Philly. The Eagles have been searching for another wide receiver, and nobody wants to see Jalen Reagor or J.J. Arcega-Whiteside ever touch the field again.
Even if it’s at cornerback like he suggested, the Eagles have a glaring hole at CB2 following the departure of Steven Nelson a few weeks ago.
The last time the 4x All-Pro played a down in the NFL was over ten years ago, but there’s no way it can get any worse for the Eagles so we might as well get a little crazy and bring back OchoCinco and Terrell Owens, right? Who cares, it’s not like Jalen Hurts can throw them the football anyways.
