Phillies Brewers Game 2 Preview: Can the Phillies Win a Series ?

The Phillies will look to win three games in a row for the first time this season as Zack Wheeler takes on the Milwaukee Brewers at 4:05 pm.
After a dramatic come from behind 4-2 win on Friday night courtesy of a five hit, three run 8th inning, the Phillies hope they can continue their recent winning ways and secure their first series victory since the opening weekend against the Oakland A’s.
Somehow the Milwaukee Brewers, winner of seven of their last ten games, have found success despite a team batting average hovering around the Mendoza line at .207. The Brew Crew have been able to outscore opponents over that time frame by six runs due to their impressive stable of arms which have posted a 2.93 ERA over the same period.
Today’s Pitching Matchup
Zack Wheeler (0-2) will toe the rubber for the Phillies today at 4:05, making his third start of the season. Wheeler has tossed only 7.2 innings over those two early starts, as he attempts to pitch himself into shape following an abbreviated Spring Training schedule. Wheeler was also extra conservative after experiencing arm discomfort in this throwing program over the offseason.
While Wheeler’s two starts were both shorter than expected for the reigning NL innings leader, they could not have gone anymore different..
4/12 NYM : 4.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
4/17 MIA : 3 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 3 BB, 3 K
With the Phillies pitching ranked 27th in the MLB with a 4.98 ERA, the club general desperately needs Wheeler to return to the All-Star form he displayed in 2021
Adrian Houser (0-2) will get the nod for the Brewers. Despite losing both of his starts this season, Houser looked impressive in his last outing against the Cardinals tossing 5.2 innings allowing only four hits and one earned run.

The Sixers…The Phillies…the city of Philadelphia cannot lose right now!
I believe Zack Wheeler settles down and delivers a quality start with something similar to his performance against the Mets. The Brewers rely too much on extra base hits to score their runs, which is why I like Wheeler to get the win.
Sixers ML + Phillies ML = +177
