Flyers vs. Jets Preview: Time to close out the tank

The Flyers take on the Winnipeg Jets tonight in their second to last game of the 2021-22 season. Felix Sandstrom is expected to start in goal as the Philadelphia Flyers look to improve their draft stock going into the offseason.
The Flyers’ projected lineup:
- Farabee-Hayes-Brink
- van Riemsdyk-Laughton-Konecny
- Cates-Frost-Tippett
- Lindblom-Thompson-MacEwen
- Provorov-Attard
- Högberg-Sanheim
- Yandle-Zamula
- Sandström
Both of these franchises are only playing for pride at this point so I’m honestly uncertain about how this match plays out. I would like the Flyers to lose out for draft position, but these last two games are winnable and I know the Flyers will take this opportunity to finally look good.
Noah Cates has posted 5 goals and 4 assists in his first 14 NHL games and appears to be a NHL ready player. I don’t think it would be jumping the gun to say he’ll be a good future depth piece.
Morgan Frost has 2 goals in his last 3 games. The confidence seems to keep snowballing for Frost as he puts together his best stretch as a professional to date.

Tank Watch:
The two clubs we need to keep our eyes on for right now are New Jersey and Seattle. New Jersey sits just two points above us in the standings while the Kraken are only 3 below with one less game played.

Seattle takes on the LA Kings tonight at home in a game Los Angeles should be able to handle, but a potential Seattle upset could be huge to keep an eye on.
Philadelphia currently sits in the #4 position going into the draft lottery on May 10th. Let’s see how these final contests play out and shape up what Philadelphia’s summer will look like.
