Rockies coach eats 24 cheesesteaks in 4 days, sets new record

Colorado Rockies coach Mike Jasperson set a new Citizen’s Bank Park record during his team’s visit to Philadelphia. The Human Vacuum managed to consume 24 cheesesteaks over four days during the series. With this new record under his belt, Jasperson has to be the most respected man in the Rockies organization.
Just look at this cheesesteak-eating specimen:

As The Liberty Line’s resident Sandwich Commentator, I’ve long been on record as a cheesesteak purist. However, Jasperson has taken this to another level, as his diet was purely cheesesteaks for 96 hours.
Jesus Christ.
Apparently, this is some kind of a tradition at The Bank, with some pretty strict rules. Of course, I had no clue about it because the Phillies were dogshit for a decade. Why would I have cared how many cheesesteaks the other team ate while they kicked in the Phillies’ teeth? You know?
Fortunately, a rare nontoxic Twitter user dropped the rules in the replies.

I’m not going to sit here and say I could top 24 cheesesteaks in four days… but I definitely could. Free sandwiches while I’m at the ballpark AND forced breaks? Make it easier for me, I dare you.
Plus, Jasperson is a coach, so he doesn’t have to worry about it coming back up as he legs one out to first. Maybe it’d be an issue with a bench-clearing brawl, but Girardi has this team playing with minimal fire out there, so I think Philly is a safe place to make a run at the title.
I hope this new record spurs the conversation around this time-honored tradition and gets more teams and players to make a run at the crown. It wouldn’t be the worst thing to have the Mets team loaded up with meat and cheese for this weekend’s series.
Food for thought.
