76ers Rumors: Bulls have “known interest” in acquiring Matisse Thybulle

Matisse Thybulle didn’t show much improvement during the 2022 post-season. Honestly, I think Thybulle regressed from the defensive specialist we watched last year, but regardless, it looks like there’s a good chance he could be packing his bags and leaving Philadelphia before next season.
According to Sean Deveney, the Chicago Bulls could be interested in acquiring Thybulle this off-season. Deveney stated that this could be a move to help the 76ers clear up space under the luxury tax.
Thybulle definitely isn’t off limits, but I find that claim to be absolutely absurd. Currently, Thybulle is set to make $4.4 million next season, and the 76ers are exactly $4.4 million over. That means by Deveney’s standards, the Bulls are prepared to only offer draft compensation.
Although he had a poor post-season, Daryl Morey isn’t going to let Thybulle walk for picks when the team is looking to go all-in on a championship over the next 3-4 seasons. If the Sixers want to move anyone, it will be Furkan Korkmaz or Danny Green before even considering Matisse and we all know how much value those two gems will hold on the trade market.
Of course there’s a chance that Thybulle could end up in Chicago in a bigger move this off-season. The 76ers have been rumored to be interested in acquiring another star this summer, and Zach LaVine would certainly fit the bill.
