Houston Texans debut new Battle Red helmets, will be worn November 3rd against the Eagles

The Houston Texans released their new “Battle Red” helmets today, which will be worn on November 3rd when they play the Philadelphia Eagles.
Houston Texans Battle Red Helmets
Last year, the NFL announced that they will allow teams to wear two different helmets beginning in the 2022 season. They previously didn’t allow alternate helmets due to “safety reasons”, stating that players were safer being fitted for one helmet. The reasoning always seemed a bit odd, but now that has changed for the 2022 season.
Here are the NFL guidelines on the new alternate helmets
- Clubs must obtain an entire new set of alternate color helmets for all players
- Alternate color helmets must be the same make, model and size as the applicable player’s primary helmet
- Alternate color helmets must be made available to all players at the start of training camp and should be fit at the same time as the primary helmet
- Alternate color helmets must be worn in practice at a minimum during the week leading up to the game in which they will be used
Philadelphia Eagles Black Helmets Debut
As for the Philadelphia Eagles, they submitted “black” as their alternate color choice for helmets and jerseys for 2021 and 2022 and will debut their new all black helmets later this summer and will be worn during their “blackout” home games this season.
Jeffrey Lurie confirmed that Philadelphia will debut a new black helmet in 2022, before debuting the Nike Kelly Green uniforms in 2023.
