SACKED: ESPN ran an entire segment about Ja Morant and Michael Jordan and not one part of it was true

Ja Morant certainly doesn’t lack confidence and because of that, ESPN got duped into running a full story that was completely made up by the popular parody account, Ballsack Sports.
Yes, ESPN got SACKED yet again. On the show “This Just In” David Jacoby and Kendrick Perkins did an entire segment on a completely made up quote from Ballsack Sports.
“If you put MJ in today’s game he’s just another superstar. We got me, Steph, Luka, Dame, Trae, and then guys like Bron, KD, Giannis, Kawhi – it’s not just one superstar and a bunch of you know, average dudes, you feel?”
Not only did ESPN run an entire segment on the fake quote, but they also changed the source citing it was from Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks interview with Ja Morant, rather than Ballsack Sports.
Ballsack Sports has duped so many national media outlets at this point, it’s not even funny anymore. Sure, everyone has been fooled by a fake post or a fraudulent Woj Twitter account. It happens. But we are not ESPN and owned by Disney, a multi-million dollar corporation with unlimited production and resources.
ESPN should never screw this type of shit up and it’s now even more clear that NO ONE at the mouse company is even attempting to do real journalism anymore. It’s all just “reading the internet” (badly) and finding trending talking points (that aren’t true) to drive engagement and viewership.
How embarrassing.

Side Note: Just reading that quote, you had to know it was completely fake. Morant mentioned Trae Young and there wasn’t a single mention of Joel Embiid. Clear red flag. Morant knows ball and there’s no way that would be his list of players in regards to where Michael Jordan would stack up in today’s game.
So of course, today ESPN issued a full apology on This Just In stating that they will be better moving forward, which I highly doubt to be true but at least they said sorry?
RIP to whatever intern screwed this up. Maybe people at ESPN should double check where talking points are coming from in the future.
