Eagles kicker Jake Elliott is trying his hand at a different sport

Philadelphia Eagles Kicker Jake Elliott has decided to spend this offseason chasing glory on the golf course.
Jake Elliot is coming off a Pro Bowl season where he was good for 30 of 33 field goal tries. That’s including a perfect 3 for 3 from beyond 50 yards.
The Eagles kicker has qualified for The Philadelphia Open Championship.
The amateur golf tournament is scheduled to be held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club-Wissahickon on July 19-20.
Any Eagles fans worried about this interfering with Jake Elliot’s offseason training schedule should be aware that he chose this event to compete in because it was “really the only one that lined up with my schedule right.” The Championship wraps up a full week before the birds start training camp.
John Clark of NBCSports tweeted a video of Jake Elliott driving a ball from the tee.

Cringe-inducing Merrill Reese impression aside, he’s got a nice, fluid swing. You can tell he’s taken a good amount of time practicing. Maybe too much time? If that field goal percentage dips below 90% this year, I might find myself linking back to this article and blaming his obsession with golf.
Regardless of how Jake Elliott finishes at the Philly Open, qualifying is undoubtedly an impressive achievement. However, just to be clear, we will mock him on this website if he does poorly. Don’t go calling the news stations to brag about your golf game and then get rinsed in an amateur tournament.
