76ers draft pick Filip Petrusev will play the 2022-23 basketball season in Serbia

Philadelphia 76ers draft pick Filip Petrusev has signed a one-year contract to play the 2022-23 season with Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade, Serbia.
Filip Petrusev
Petrusev was the 50th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He averaged 8.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in 35 games last season in the Turkish League and EuroLeague.
Petrusev was a member of the 76ers’ Summer League teams last year and then again this season. In four games this year, he averaged 5.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, an assist and a steal on 53.3% shooting from the floor.
Before turning professional, he attended Montverde Academy and spent two season with Gonzaga, where he was named the 2019-2020 West Coast Conference Player of the Year after averaging 17.5 points and 7.9 rebounds while shooting 56.2% from the field.
Petrusev played with Serbia in last year’s Olympic qualifying tournament and averaged 15.5 points and five rebounds before losing to Italy in the final. He was fifth in scoring among players in the tournament.
Maybe there’s a chance we see Petrusev next season? All things considered, with the lack of playing time in Philadelphia that he probably would have gotten, Petrusev decided to head back over seas.
