A NFL Hall of Famer told Ricky Williams the best way to take care of himself during his career would be to smoke crushed up Vicodin in blunts

During an interview with Terrell Owens “Getcha Popcorn Ready” on FUBO Sports on YouTube, legendary NFL running back Ricky Williams talked about his NFL career and shared a few stories about things that happened throughout his career.
During his rookie season, a Hall of Fame player on the team, who Williams did not mention by name invited him over to his house and gave him a speech about how to take care of himself in the NFL.
“My rookie year, a Hall of Fame player on the team, he’s in the Hall of Fame now, invited me over to his house and he gave me the speech about how to take care of yourself in the NFL.”
“And he pulled out some cannabis, crushed it up, split a blunt, opened it up, put the cannabis in there, took a Vicodin, crushed it up, sprinkled the Vico in there, rolled up the blunt and passed it to me. That was a vet, teaching me as a rookie, how to take care of myself in the NFL.”
NOTE: Morten Anderson and Willie Roaf are two members of the New Orleans Saints that made it to the Hall of Fame and played with Ricky Williams during his rookie season.
RIDDLE ME THAT.
To have NFL veterans teaching rookies how to “take care of themselves” then proceeding to crush up Vicodin into a blunt as a solution is pretty fucking disgusting.
Obviously, the NFL has a huge painkiller problem and has been somewhat successful in sweeping it under the rug for the past few decades, all while kicking players out like Josh Gordon out of the league for smoking weed.
None of it really makes any sense and is clearly very dangerous for the players who are offered painkillers as medication. In case you weren’t aware, there’s literally an Opioid Epidemic happening in the United States of America. Over 100,000 people died last year due to drug overdoses.

That is absolutely crazy.
As someone who lost more than 15 people close to me in my life from opiates, I’m no stranger to a painkiller blunt and all I can really say about it is don’t fucking do it, even if some scumbag NFL Hall of Famer is the one suggesting it. Painkillers will kill you. Period. End of discussion. It’s awful that the NFL and players alike push them on others and the league is in desperate need of a change.
