Joel Embiid and Bryce Harper represented Philadelphia last night at the 2022 ESPYS

In case you missed it, the 2022 ESPYS were apparently on television last night, live from The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The show aired on ABC and was hosted by NBA Champion Steph Curry.
Joel Embiid and Bryce Harper represented Philadelphia at the ESPYS
For Best NBA Player Joel Embiid was facing off against Nikola Jokić of the Denver Nuggets, Luka Dončić of the Dallas Mavericks, and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. As you can probably guess based on the fact that he was hosting, Steph Curry took home the prize. It probably would have been weird if he didn’t win.
For Best MLB Player Bryce Harper was among fellow nominees Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels, Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, and Jorge Soler of the Atlanta Braves. Shohei Ohtani won this category. There’s not a whole lot of analysis to provide on that one. Ohtani has been simultaneously one of the best hitters and pitchers in the MLB.
So that’s about it for Philly Sports at the ESPYS. It was a pretty quiet night for Philadelphia and a nice change of pace from last year’s show when Ben Simmons got roasted last year by Anthony Mackie.
All in all it’s a bland ceremony this year. As far as award ceremonies go it’s been fine. The problem is we’ll never top the high of the Oscars from this year. The ESPYS are usually a snooze fest to begin with, but the lack of physical violence compared to the Oscars is really making it hard for me to care what’s going on. So if you clicked on this article looking for all sorts of hot 2022 ESPYS insights, I’m very sorry.
