Phillies acquire young infielder from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for LHP JoJo Romero

The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired INF Edmundo Sosa from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for LHP JoJo Romero, the team announced moments ago.
Edmundo Sosa is having a rough 2022 season, slashing just .189/.244/.270 in 53 games. He’s tallied zero homers and just 8 RBIs in 122 at-bats, with 23 hits, 4 doubles, and 3 triples.
Sosa’s best season came in 2021, where he hit .271/.346/.389 in 113 games with 6 HRs, 27 RBIs, 78 hits, 8 doubles, and 4 triples. Sosa can play third, shortstop, or second but has spent most of his time in 2022 at short, tallying 34 total games there this season. He’s posted a .972 fielding percentage with 3 errors in 219.2 innings.
JoJo Romero is heading to St. Louis after battling through Tommy John Surgery here in Philadelphia. Romero tallied a 7.89 ERA in 25 total games in Philadelphia, allowing 29 hits and 19 earned runs in 21.1 innings.
This certainly won’t be the last move that the Phillies make before the trade deadline, as the team is still looking to find a starting pitcher and possibly a centerfielder, along with a reliever.
Edmundo Sosa does not have any more minor league options, so the Phillies will need to clear a spot on the active roster.
