Preview: Phillies make a roster move ahead of tonight’s 7:15 matchup against the Pirates

The Philadelphia Phillies look for a series win tonight against the Pirates at 7:15 EST. Ranger Suarez (7-5, 3.84 ERA) gets the ball for the Phils, going up against Mitch Keller (3-7, 4.55 ERA).

The team announced earlier today that Kyle Gibson is heading to the bereavement list and will miss his start on Tuesday. Gibson left the team to be with family after the sudden loss of his grandmother. RHP Mark Appel has been recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The Phillies got a massive win on Friday night thanks to a 10th-inning home run from Rhys Hoskins. Last night’s win pushed the Phillies to 53-47 on the season and keeps them tied with St. Louis for the final Wild Card spot. They’ll go for their fourth win in a row tonight and the series win.
