Flyers avoid arbitration with RFA Zack MacEwen

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Flyers avoid arbitration with Zack MacEwen with a 1-year deal worth $925K.
MacEwen was picked up by the Flyers off waivers last season from the Vancouver Canucks. He scored 3G-6A-9P in 75 total games last year.
With the Flyers signing Nic Deslauriers to a 4-year deal worth more than $1.75 a year (add in the NMC as well), re-signing MacEwen never made sense to me. Both play similar games and bring the same kind of presence to the lineup, with Deslaurier fighting a little more than Zack does.
The idea of both of these guys in the lineup together, while probably on the same line, gives me migraines already.
All in all, if the Flyers are bad next year it won’t be because they signed Zack MacEwen to a 1-year deal worth just under a million dollars. I don’t love it and I don’t hate it. Meh.
