James Harden debuts new Adidas Vol. 7 signature shoe at a workout

James Harden debuted his newest signature shoe with Adidas at a Rico Hines Basketball run today. He opted for a mainly purple and black colorway with a mishmash of textures featuring a shiny patent heel and what appears to be a suede toecap.
The reviews on Twitter have been somewhat mixed, and you’ll no doubt be getting my opinion if you keep scrolling. Regardless, the design is definitely eye-catching, just maybe not in the most positive way.
Check out Harden’s Vol. 7 for yourself:
When looking at the pair up close, I’m a bit underwhelmed. I’m by no means a fashion expert – my outfits consist mainly of Liberty Line t-shirts and varying shades of blue jeans – but these join Joel Embiid’s kicks in falling short of my aesthetic expectations.
They’re certainly not horrible, though. Some current NBA players have some of the most abominable-looking shoes I’ve seen in quite some time, but it’s not just basketball. I’ll be the first to admit that my personal lord and savior, Kanye West, has taken the shoe game to a pretty fucked up place.
Ultimately, it’s important to remember that what the shoes look like doesn’t really matter. What matters is what Harden does in the shoes.
Fortunately for Sixers fans, the shoe debut was accompanied by some footage of The Beard in live-action, and he’s definitely got more bounce to his game.
I know this is footage against non-NBA competition but look at how much better Harden’s moving here. He could be wearing Air Monarchs for all I care, just as long as he keeps hooping like this in a Sixers uniform.
Granted, I am partial to the Air Monarchs, so I might be biased. I mean, just look at these beauties:

Sartorial sarcasm aside, It’s great to see Harden’s off-season work starting to pay dividends. He looks slimmer, he’s spending more time with his girl, and he’s been taking care of his body.
Hopefully, this bodes well for the upcoming season.
