Phillies Injury Update: Zach Eflin and Seranthony Dominguez set to make rehab assignments over the next two days

Following Wednesday night’s win over the Marlins, Phillies manager Rob Thomson gave a positive update on Seranthony Dominguez and Zach Eflin.
Both Dominguez and Eflin will make their rehab assignments over the next two days in Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Seranthony is set to pitch on Thursday, while Eflin will start Friday’s game but treat it like a relief appearance.
Seranthony Dominguez threw two innings on Tuesday and felt “really good”, according to Phillies manager Rob Thomson. Dominguez hit the 15-day IL back on August 21st with right tricep tendinitis and was a big loss for the Phillies, as the bullpen has struggled since his departure.

Zach Eflin threw 26 pitches in two innings on the mound prior to Tuesday night’s matchup with the Marlins. Thomson said Eflin’s fastball was moving well, sitting around 93-95 mph. With under a month to go in the Phillies season, there’s no time to build Eflin back up to a true starter.
Dominguez and Eflin will be two big additions for the bullpen, as they were both having good seasons before going down, especially Dominguez, who tallied a 1.46 ERA in 46 games before hitting the IL. Eflin held a 3-5 record with a 4.37 ERA and is ready for a Red October just like all Phillies fans, saying he “can’t wait to pitch in the playoffs.”
Up Next for the Phillies
The Phillies got another huge win on Wednesday night thanks to Edmundo Sosa and another strong outing from Bailey Falter. The team goes for the sweep on Thursday night in the powder blues with Kyle Gibson going up against Sandy Alcantara.
