As a corresponding move, the team has optioned Vinny Nittoli to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Seranthony Dominguez hit the 15-day IL back on August 21st with right tricep tendinitis and was a big loss for the Phillies, as the bullpen has struggled since his departure, not allowing a clean 9th inning since August 25th.
On the year, Dominguez is 6-4 with a 1.64 ERA over 46 games. He has 9 saves and 54 strikeouts with a 0.91 WHIP over 44 innings pitched.
Dominguez threw two innings back on Tuesday at CBP with Zach Eflin, and felt “really good”, according to Rob Thomson. Dominguez also completed a rehab stint in AAA, and was sitting 99-100 on Thursday night. He did one more workout with the Lehigh Valley on Friday, and will now re-join the team today.
Bryce Harper hit his first home run since June yesterday in Philly’s 8-5 win over the Marlins. The Fightins go for the sweep today at 1:05 EST. Aaron Nola squares off against Anibal Sanchez.
