Roster Moves: Phillies claim RHP from San Diego Padres

The Phillies continue to load up on pitching depth as Red October approaches.
RHP Tayler Scott has been claimed off waivers from the San Diego Padres, the team announced just moments ago. Scott has been assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after being DFA’d by San Diego two days ago.
To make room for Tayler Scott on the 40-man, LHP Kent Emanuel was recalled from Lehigh Valley and placed on the 60-day IL (left shoulder strain).
Tayler Scott, 30, has thrown 33 games for San Diego’s Triple-A affiliate this season, holding a 4.87 ERA in that time. All Scott’s appearances have been out of the bullpen, tallying 40.2 total innings. He’s allowed 41 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 52 batters.

Scott has gotten roughed up in his 8 major league starts in 2022, holding a 6.75 ERA with the Padres. The Phillies will now try to fix Scott and keep him as a potential last-chance depth piece. With Mark Appel hitting the 60-day just a few days ago, the Phillies are loading up on bullpen depth.
