Tobias Harris jumps the shark, participates in family’s gender reveal video
A video and a few pictures of Tobias Harris are making their rounds on social media as he assisted in a family’s gender reveal at the Narberth courts on Wednesday afternoon.
Let’s be clear about something real quick before I go off the deep end…
I wish nothing but the best for this beautiful family and their new child that’s on the way. I hope with all of my heart that the baby boy and the mother have a safe and healthy pregnancy and childbirth.

Tobias Harris Assists Family with Gender Reveal
Now, let’s talk about how overplayed and dumb gender reveals are, regardless of who’s participating in the event. Again, this really has nothing to do with this family in particular, I’m just speaking in general about the entire “gender reveal” craze on social media.
I have never seen something jump the shark so badly, and we live in an internet world and sports city where people still believe Nick Castellanos home run jokes are funny.
Honestly, I really don’t know what the point of a gender reveal is? Is it just to post the video and clips online so get that hit of dopamine when friends, family, and other people on the internet like it? The entire thing seems pretty odd to me.
Then again, I don’t have children so who am I to judge?
The only good one I have ever seen was from NFL Opening Night, when Bills receiver and slot god Isaiah McKenzie scored a touchdown against the LA Rams and celebrated by going over to the video camera and revealing the gender of his sister’s baby. That’s how you do it. Any other way will never top that and should be the end of gender reveals entirely.
As for Tobias Harris, while it was extremely nice of him to help this family reveal the gender of their baby, I would be lying to the great readers of The Liberty Line if I didn’t tell you that this was literally me when watching the video.
Is this what it has come to in Philadelphia? Tobias Harris doing gender reveals for 76ers fans in order to restore his public image in this city?
Side Note: As die hard Sixers fans, did this family scrub their social media accounts from Tobias Harris slander that inevitably was posted at least 25 times over the past few seasons?
Regardless, Tobias Harris certainly deserves better. I am calling for all 76ers fans to put the hate of Harris aside entering the 2022-23 season. He’s a standup guy and a reliable basketball player. Period. If you don’t like the contract, then take it up with. the organization.
And look, I have no idea if he knows this family or not, but here’s a list of better ways to pander to Philadelphia 76ers fans instead of slumping down to gender reveal videos.
