Donovan McNabb speaks on Hurts vs Wentz, Eagles Super Bowl chances

Donovan McNabb seems to always have something to say about whoever the Eagles QB is. Granted, he’s often asked about it as the franchise’s all-time leading passer and longest-tenured QB of the 21st century.
McNabb spoke on his preference between Jalen Hurts and Carson Wentz on the Zach Gelb Show:
“Right now, I would say yes. Just from what I see as far as the change of the offense. The change of the offense is better suited for Jalen Hurts.”
I have to say, Donovan McNabb used to piss me off when he had anything to say about the Eagles. It had a lot to do with his hesitance to show love to Carson Wentz.
Now that his criticism has been proven right and Wentz is on his third team, it’s clear I should not have been so harsh. Even so, it’s refreshing to hear him praise an Eagles quarterback, especially one as heavily doubted as Jalen Hurts.
So, the Eagles have their franchise guy. Does McNabb see a Super Bowl in the near future?
“I wouldn’t so call it say Super Bowl right now. I think they’ll be a strong NFC East contender, being able to win the NFC East. I’m looking forward to them possibly making it and advancing to the second round. At that particular point, as a player, you know you need a little bit luck and an extra push to get you over the hump. But I definitely see us a playoff team, a team that will be a little up and down over the regular season…I think we’re strong enough from an experience stand point, from the players, to be able to overcome a lot of the adversity they’ll face this year.”
Some may not like it but that’s a totally fair assessment of the situation. The power rankings are extremely high on the Birds and so am I. But third best team in the league? Definitely seems to be a bit too much too soon.
Then again, I predicted a 10-0 start to the year months ago, so I can’t fault anyone for being reactionary. Regardless I hope these words from McNabb give Jalen even more confidence in what he’s doing.
And, hopefully, he’ll hit this pose in Wentz’s face.
