Preseason Game 2: Philadelphia Flyers at Buffalo Sabres

The second game of the 2022-23 preseason gets underway tonight as the Philadelphia Flyers travel to Buffalo and take on the Sabres. Samuel Ersson and Tony Grosenick may split time in the net and the lineup will feature veterans in Travis Konecny and James Van Riemsdyk. The puck will drop at 7PM.

Morgan Frost, Cam York, and the Cates brothers appear to be getting another start in the early going here. They are visibly the highlight of the preseason thus far spearheading the 2–1 win on Saturday over Boston.

I’m very intrigued to see how returning veterans JVR and Travis Konecny look in this one. Obviously for veterans preseason isn’t a high pressure stage, but with the tone Tortorella has set going into this camp I expect some fire.
2020 5th-round draft pick Elliot Desnoyers makes his preseason debut coming off a World Juniors tournament just this August.
Jackson and Noah Cates are coming off a game in which they both scored in a 2-1 win. The Cates play a smart, gritty, yet effective style that’s satisfying to watch. Alongside Frost and York, I’m really keeping an eye on those two going forward.

It’s almost 2023 and we’re still doing this “only 4/6 preseason games are on TV!”
Tragedy.
Tonight’s game is only on the radio on 97.5 and I cannot stand when they do this; it’s been this way since I was 12. Apparently Buffalo will have a stream on their website, but it shouldn’t have to be this way. On top of a brand new ESPN deal to boot, figure it out Comcast.
