Spataro’s to serve ‘Pink Cheesesteaks’ to raise money for local domestic violence charity

Spataro’s in Reading Terminal Market will serve Pink Cheesesteaks to support A Woman’s Place, a Bucks County organization that serves victims of domestic violence. The steaks will feature a pink cheese wiz, made with American cheese and pink food coloring.
Here’s the first look at Spataro’s Pink Cheesesteak:

They will be available for purchase from today, September 27th, to October 15th. A Woman’s Place is also the only domestic violence benefit organization in Bucks County, so each sandwich will make a serious difference in the community.
Owner Alex Spataro gave a statement as to why the cause is so important:
“Right now, there are so many women in America facing so many different issues, and domestic violence is one that never goes away. One of the most dangerous times in a woman’s life is when she is pregnant. It can even be a primary catalyst for abuse. In these ensuing months, organizations like A Woman’s Place will be critical in protecting the lives and well-being of women and children nationwide. Women in crisis need to have a place to turn when all other options are exhausted.”
Full disclosure, I would have some serious opposition to this cheesesteak if it wasn’t for such a good cause. When I first saw it, I was unaware of the charity angle, and thought they were provoking God Himself to smite humanity with a Pepto Bismol cheese wiz.
Or worse, the Pink Sauce…
Instead, it just turns out I’m a total jackass. Not only am I eating my words, I’ll be eating a Spataro’s cheesesteak.
