Eagles strike deal with Wendy’s for Frosty Freeze-Out in 1st Quarter

At long last. The Eagles have inked a deal with Wendy’s to implement their own iteration of the popular Frosty Freeze-Out. Eagles fans will get a free frosty at participating locations when the Birds keep their opponent from scoring a touchdown in the first quarter.
The Sixers started the original version, which sees fans receive the treat when a visiting opponent misses back-to-back free throw attempts in the second half. It’s become a household event in the Philadelphia area, and those in attendance go all out for that free frosty.

Josh Tolentino reported the Eagles multi-year Frosty Freeze-Out partnership:
I, for one, cannot wait to get it going. The Eagles have already kept opponents out of the end zone in the first quarter twice this season.
Am I a bit peeved we didn’t get a free frosty for those shutdown performances? Absolutely. Even so, I think we have plenty of free frozen treats ahead of us.
A critical detail here is that it will be for both home and away games. Birds fans travel notoriously well, and this will give them even more reason to come into the start of the game with high energy.
It’s not like our fans really need any extra motivation to go crazy on the road, but everyone loves a frosty, especially when it’s free. I know the TLL crew will be doing so in Arizona next week alongside our good friends at Phans of Philly.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the fanbase will respond to this new Frosty Freeze-Out. Obviously it’s a huge hit in basketball, but football is a completely different vibe.
I hope it catches on as it will be a great way for fans to set the tone early every week. Ideally it brings the usual first quarter buzz to a fever pitch and leads us to sweet, sweet victory.
