Michael Plassmeyer’s season with the Giants got off to a rough start, holding a 7.38 ERA in 11 appearances (10 starts). He totaled 46.1 innings with San Fran, allowing 50 hits and 38 earned runs in his time with Sacramento in AAA.
Since coming to Philadelphia, Plassmeyer has really tuned up his game, tallying a 2.41 ERA in 16 starts with Lehigh Valley, striking out 82 batters in 82 innings. Plassmeyer has always been a starter throughout his professional career, but with Brad Hand’s status unknown, the team could look to potentially use him as another left-handed reliever.
The lefty has made one appearance for the Phillies this year, throwing a shutout inning out of the bullpen. Chris Devenski has been optioned to Triple-A after racking up an 11.25 ERA in 3 bullpen appearances.
