Wawa to launch ‘SchwarberFest,” celebrate Phillies playoff run with $6 hoagies

Wawa has met the Phillies unexpected run to the NLCS head on with an unprecedented promotion: HoagieFest in October. However, the local brand knew it had to put a seasonal twist, and went with the more aptly named SchwarberFest (of course named for the Phillies’ lefty leadoff slugger).
Wawa’s press release shared the new logo and shed some light on the inspiration for SchwarberFest:

Wawa, PA (October 18, 2022) – Wawa today is stoked to announce the launch of “SchwarberFest,” a limited-time promotion of $5 Shortis® and $6 Classics available to customers who order and pay in the Wawa App through the post-season.
In June and July when Philadelphia fans were watching Kyle Schwarber kiss over 20 home runs goodbye on his way to being one of the best power hitters in the baseball, at Wawa, we were celebrating our annual HoagieFest® campaign, a 13-year tradition of discounting hoagies each summer. As Philadelphia made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years, some fans and outlets on social media asked why Wawa couldn’t host a special return of the HoagieFest promotion in honor of this performance and the team’s success.
So, just as Kyle and the team are giving it their all to bring home a championship to Philadelphia, Wawa is thrilled to introduce “SchwarberFest” and hopes fans keep dancing on their own couches and in the ballpark this week!
In honor of the promotion and Philly’s recent success on the field, Wawa is also proud to make a $25,000 contribution to Philabundance to help relieve hunger in our local community.
Let’s call this what it is folks. Unprecedented.
A Gobbler? At HoagieFest prices? Sign me the hell up.
The charity angle is nice too, I guess. But as The Liberty Line’s resident Sandwich Commentator, that falls well outside of my purview.
I am here for the sandwiches and the sandwiches alone.
Of course, Schwarber is the perfect player to honor with this promotion. He lead the National League in home runs from the leadoff spot. That’s almost as unheard of as a $6 Classic at Wawa in October.
All you have to do is sign up for Wawa rewards. If you haven’t done it by now, though, I don’t know what could be a bigger needle-mover that SchwarberFest.
This is like the Sozin’s Comet of Philadelphia. It only happens once every hundred years, but when it does, Philadelphians ascend to higher level of power to rival Greek demigods.
This is also a great way for Wawa to get back in our good graces. Sure, we still love them, but sometimes we’ve felt neglected as the chain grows more nationally.
I’m not all that hurt by it, but when I walk into any Wawa in the Philly area and see every employee wearing Mets colored caps, I can’t help but wonder what the hell is going on. Seriously, who signed off on that?

Even with their past transgressions, Wawa has struck oil with SchwarberFest. I haven’t had a Wawa sandwich in a month or so, and you can bet your ass I’ll be in there for lunch tomorrow.
SchwarberFest is one of many signs that the playoff vibes in Philly are off the charts. The city is on an all-time heater right now, and sweet deals on made to order sandwiches is just another source of fuel for the flames.
Granted, if the Phillies end up flaming out in the NLCS, I’ll certainly be placing 98% of the blame on the shoulders of The Goose Company. But I’ll burn that bridge when I get to it.
