JT Realmuto named 2022 Gold Glove Finalist

Phillies catcher JT Realmuto has been named a Gold Glove finalist for the 2022 season.
Along with Realmuto, Travis d’Arnaud from the Braves and Tomas Nido from the Mets were also named as finalists from behind the dish in the NL.
JT Realmuto had one of the best post-all-star runs I’ve seen. He struggled to start his season but had his best month of the season in July, slashing .358/.423/.642 in 67 ABs with 24 hits, 5 HRs, and 17 RBIs. Realmuto finished the year .276/.342/.478 with 22 HRs and 84 RBIs.

Defense wins you the gold glove award, and JT Realmuto is called the “Best Catcher in Baseball” for that reason. Realmuto finished the regular season with a .993 fielding percentage behind the plate and caught runners stealing at a rate of 44%. The 9-time All-Star caught 1,131 innings this year, a career-high.
The Phils haven’t had major contributions from Realmuto at the plate during the postseason, but he’s still been great behind the plate. He’s hitting just .219 in the postseason but has logged seven hits, six runs scored, and 2 RBIs in that time.
