Dusty has been the third base coach for the Phillies for five seasons and was a manager for multiple Phillies minor-league teams for close to 10 years. Wathan did play for the Royals in his 14-year pro baseball career and grew up in the KC area.
Dusty Wathan has grown a special relationship with the players, especially ones in the past like Andrew McCutchen and Didi Gregorius. He’s a guy that people seem to love, and although it would be a tough loss at third base, Wathan would be a great manager. If he goes to one of these two teams, hopefully, it’s the Royals.
