Bar in Manayunk rightfully makes mural of the Phillie Phanatic stomping on the San Diego Chicken

Before there was a single game played in the NLCS, the city of San Diego was celebrating like they already won the World Series.
That of course, did not happen. The Philadelphia Phillies made light work of the Padres winning the NLCS 4-1 and advanced to the World Series, while the Padres are now booking tee times in Southern California.Â
Back to what happened before the NLCS even started, artists in San Diego decided to paint a mural of the San Diego Chicken stomping on the Phillie Phanatic. It was a bizarre move given the fact that the series hadn’t even started, and the mural was then removed the following day because people in San Diego and of course in Philadelphia, bashed it all over social media with both sides stating it was done in “poor taste.”

Now in Manayunk on the wall outside of the The Rook, we have our sweet and very appropriately timed revenge. The Phillie Phanatic is stomping on the San Diego Chicken holding a hot dog and waving a NL Champions 2022 flag.

Beautiful. This artist should give our other friend who painted the Bryce Harper mural a helping hand. CBS3 caught up with the owner of The Rook and talked about the mural. You can watch that video here.
More from CBS3 and The Rook:
Local artist, Drew Montemayor, is the graphic designer for The Rook.
“After seeing this, all my friends asked me to paint the opposite if the Phillies won the series with the Phanatic on the Chicken mascot,” Montemayor said. “The Phillies ended up winning, so I wanted to tell the story correctly. All I needed was a wall.”
During Phillies games, The Rook offers $1 hot dogs and $3 specialty dogs, a perfect way to feel like you are inside the ballpark.Â
It’s been a long week without Phillies baseball. All that changes tomorrow as Aaron Nola takes the mound in Game 1 of the 2022 World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros.
Rest up. There’s a storm coming.
