Over 1 million Phillies fans entered the World Series ticket lottery and only 20,000 were granted tickets

Over one million people entered the Philadelphia Phillies World Series Ticket Lottery looking for a chance to win the 20,000 tickets that were available for fans to purchase.
Phillies World Series Lottery Chances
Last night on social media was like the ending to that dumb Marvel movie where everyone just started to fizzle away into dust as they received their email (with a poorly worded subject line) about not getting selected for the World Series ticket lottery.
To say the very least, it was a dark few hours for Phillies fans.
Most of the people who were rejected by the lottery had fun with the fact that they weren’t selected but then of course, you had others like this weirdo, who had a mental breakdown on Twitter about it.Â
I wanted to call out whoever this Twitter account was specifically, but overall, this seems to be the sentiment of a large group on social media and of course, they are completely wrong.
So let’s be clear about a few things real quick, shall we?
In reference to the tweet above, watching Scott Kingery play baseball is nothing to be upset about.
Long live Jetpax SZN.
Second, cheers to Emily in Doylestown for getting tickets. If she’s reading this, I hope she will consider taking me with her because I’m absolutely in love with her. 9
Third, just because you watched the Phillies when they sucked for the last 10 years doesn’t make you more of a fan. It just means you’re mentally ill. Yes, that includes myself.
The whole gatekeeping thing on sports fandom never really made sense to me, even more so when the same people who sat on their couches a month ago telling people to root for the Phillies and attend games are now mad that people are rooting for the Phillies and buying tickets.
True baseball fans want everyone around them to love and watch the game just like they do. Give me a room full of people who just discovered how great playoff baseball is and they would leave being baseball fans together. There’s no reason to be hostile towards anyone.
The Philadelphia Phillies are in the World Series. It starts tomorrow against the Houston Astros. Wake up everyone. It’s time to lock in and focus on becoming World Champions for the first time since 2008.
Tickets to the parade are free of charge.
