Looking for 2 in a row: Hurricanes vs. Flyers

John Tortorella and his (5-2-0) Philadelphia Flyers welcome “Rod the Bod” and his (4-2-1) Carolina Hurricanes to South Philly. Carter Hart gets the start and newest Flyer, Kieffer Bellows will make his debut in orange and black. You can catch the game at 7pm (right before Phils Game 2 at 8pm) on NBCSP.
Back to 12F & 6 D
John Tortorella announced today that he’ll go back to the 12F and 6D look, after running 7D against FLA. Egor Zamula looks to be the odd-man out on the back-end, playing sparingly in the 2nd period and 3rd period last game (6:41 TOI).
Defense:
Provorov – DeAngelo
Sanheim – Ristolainen
Seeler – Braun
Carter Hart
Hart will get the nod again tonight after putting up a ridiculous 48 save (51 shots against) performance vs the Panthers on Thursday night. Hart is currently 5-0-0 on the season with a 2.00 GAA and a .947 sv%.
When you talk about a goalie putting a team on his back, look no further than Hart and what he’s currently doing for this hockey team. The Flyers have allowed 30+ shots in every single game except the SJS game (25) and allowed Hart to see 51 total shots Thursday night.
That’s just absurd.
It’s fun sitting here and watching Carter Hart to Carter Hart things but this is obviously not a recipe for success throughout a 82-game schedule.
The Flyers have to pick up their play in-front of both Hart or Sandstrom if they want this winning to continue.
Forward Lines:
(This is a total guess because the Flyers didn’t have a full practice. Optional skate with about 10 Flyers attending)
Farabee – Hayes – Konecny
Cates – Laughton – Tippett
Bellows – Frost – Allison
Deslauriers – Sedlak – MacEwen
Bellows, a 19th overall pick in the 2016 draft, was nabbed off waivers from the Islanders on Thursday. Bellows was touted as one of the best goal scorers in his draft class but hasn’t really lived up to those pre-draft expectations.
Still, he’s only 24 years old and a fresh start is maybe all he needs. In his media availably, Bellows mentioned shooting the puck to be his #1 focus coming into his first game as a Flyer. Personally, I love to hear that…shoot the puck all night long, I honestly don’t care from where…just do it.
