FOX29 Chris O’Connell roasts lifeless Astros crowd, as two Phillies fans in attendance stole the show in the stands last night in Houston

You would have thought last night’s Game 1 of the 2022 World Series in Houston was just another Major League Baseball game in the middle of June. Even after the Astros jumped out to an early 5-0 lead on the Philadelphia Phillies, the crowd remained in their seats and lifeless. That of course, did not get better as the game went on thanks to six unanswered runs from the Fightins to take a 1-0 series lead.
FOX29 reporter Chris O’Connell was in Houston for the game and had this to say about the Astros’ home crowd.

- No vibe with the Houston crowd.
- Felt like regular season game.
- More excitement at Chris’s daughters middle school volleyball game.
There you have it. The Houston Astros fans are a lifeless, ugly bunch and you could tell by just watching the game on television. It really shows you something when the best fan in the ballpark was this kid rocking Phillies gear yelling in the faces of Astros fans as they sat in their seats completely stunned while the Fightins stormed back to steal Game 1.

Throw this kid on the list of iconic Philadelphia sports fans immediately and save this post when he becomes the new Mayor of Philadelphia in 30 years.

While we’re at it, this Phillies fan should join him.
The fact that this Phillies fan is just standing up in front of you while the Astros fans behind them sit there in absolute awe tells you everything you need to know about that fanbase.
The Houston Astros have lost home field advantage just like the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres did in the previous two series. That has not worked out well, given the fact that all three teams have lazy, disinterested fan bases and then have to walk into Citizens Bank Park, which has been the toughest place to play in all of baseball this postseason.
How unfortunate.
