Cam York Injured Playing for Flyers’ AHL Affiliate

Playing in his 4th regular season game for the Phantoms, Cam York was injured after a collision in the corner with Capitals’ prospect Mason Morelli.
At this time, the extent of York’s injury is unknown. But I would not assume it to be good, as everyone reporting on it has said that he was unable to put any weight on his leg as he headed down to the tunnel.
This is just what the Flyers needed. Another injury to another critical piece of the organization’s future. York was doing predictably well with the Phantoms, posting 4 points in 6 games before an injury cut his 7th game short. On a Phantoms roster that, frankly, struggles for offense and consistently produces less than their opponent? It was an impressive showing.
An impressive showing that was also completely obvious. Frankly, Cam York shouldn’t even be playing in the AHL. He’s an NHL-ready player every day of the week, and the Flyers could desperately use his puck moving abilities.
We can only hope that this frivolous return to the AHL based on some false notion of “accountability” didn’t result in an injury that could compromise the rest of York’s season.
But wouldn’t it just be par for the course with this team, if that was exactly what happened?
