Skip Bayless bends the knee, says Jalen Hurts is the MVP of the NFL

Whenever I write about Skip Bayless, it’s more often than not a slam piece. He’s a Cowboys fan, what else would you expect?
If you’ve followed Skip throughout the years, you’ll know that he’s always been a huge Jalen Hurts supporter. From the day the Eagles drafted him in the second-round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Skip Bayless has been on board the Hurts Hype Train.
Now that Hurts is playing at an MVP level and his Eagles are 8-0, Skip stuck to his guns on Friday’s edition of FS1’s “Undisputed.”
Skip Bayless: “Jalen Hurts is my MVP”
“Shannon Sharpe, I began to tell you soon after the Eagles stole Jalen Hurts in the second-round of that draft, that he will change life in Philadelphia,” Skip says. “I just think, and we’re about halfway through, he has been the MVP so far.”
Skip Bayless bending the knee to Philadelphia will never get old.
Although Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes have slightly better numbers than Hurts, as Skip later points out, it’s the vast improvement from Hurts that has really set him apart from the two other MVP candidates.
Through eight games, Hurts has compiled 18 total touchdowns while only committing three turnovers. He’s completing 68 percent of his passes and has a passer rating of 107.8; over 20 points higher than his passer rating last season (87.2).
Over the past two weeks, Hurts has taken his game to another level. He’s thrown six touchdowns to zero interceptions while completing 72.8 percent of his passes with a passer rating of 134.8. Those are MVP-level numbers, without a doubt.
“Intangible leadership,” Skip continues. “[Hurts] has changed the way the Eagles look to me on the football field.”
If the MVP award was given to the player with the best intangibles, there’s no doubt Hurts would take home the award this year. Truthfully, he’d probably win it every year if that were the case.
Per DraftKings Sportsbook, Hurts is second in the MVP odds at the moment at +330. Josh Allen is still the frontrunner at +120, with Mahomes sitting right behind Hurts at +400.
If Hurts continues his excellent play and his Eagles continue winning, it’ll be hard to deny him the MVP trophy at season’s end. If Skip Bayless had any say the matter, Hurts would already have the award on his trophy shelf.
