Bryce Harper didn’t hold back in his post game comments after The Phillies fell short in the World Series. The Phillies slugger made it clear he wasn’t satisfied with being runner up.

“Dave Dombrowski is our guy. John Middleton understands that we want to win and he wants to win right now too. I’d imagine we’re gonna be the same team with some more pieces next year and that will make us that much better”
Bryce Harper’s post game comments almost read as cryptic. Who will the Phillies be looking to add? Who are they looking to get rid of? The obvious name that most Phillies fans would jump at to add is Trea Turner. The Dodgers shortstop is a free agent this winter, and the Phillies are expected to be involved in the bidding war for his services.
Of course The Phillies could also use another top line starting pitcher to pair with Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola. The shortcomings of Nola this postseason were front and center. Could the Phillies be contenders in the Jacob deGrom sweepstakes?
At this point anything is possible. Few could have imagined the Phillies coming so close to a World Series title. John Middleton has made it clear this past year that Dave Dombrowski has a blank check to build a roster.
Coming so close to glory can only strengthen that position.
Bryce Harper: “Any time you lose it’s not fun. […] We didn’t get it done.”
