WATCH: Trea Turner’s agent sent a highlight tape to every MLB team ahead free agency

Trea Turner’s agent released a highlight video yesterday, narrated by Jon Hamm, to all MLB teams yesterday ahead of free agency.
Trea Turner’s “Recruitment” Video
Sure, the video itself is kind of goofy but the fact remains that Trea Turner can literally do everything on a baseball diamond and the Philadelphia Phillies are in need of his services both at shortstop and at the plate as a pure leadoff hitter. Turner hit .298/.343/.466 in 2022 with 21 HRs, 100 RBIs, and 194 hits, just one shy of his career-high, while stealing 27 bases and tallying a 4.9 WAR, the highest of his career.
There’s been a ton of speculation in the past about Turner coming to Philadelphia, with he and Bryce Harper being really close friends from their playing days in Washington. Bryce Harper has said multiple times that Turner is his favorite player in the MLB, and their wives have been best friends for many years.
With the Phillies declining Jean Segura’s $17M option for the 2022 season, the Fightins are in need of a shortstop and will most certainly be hitting the Free Agent market for one of the four big names…Trea Turner, Carlos Correa, Xander Bogaerts, and Dansby Swanson. Turner seems like the best option, based on fit, all-around game, and already-formed relationships with the team.
While everyone else (wrongfully) debates on the future of Rhys Hoskins at first base for the Phillies or trading Nick Castellanos (LOL), the main area of focus of the Phillies should be obvious. Sign an elite shortstop that can bat leadoff and add more pitching.
Just think about this lineup next season…
- Turner
- Bohm
- Harper
- Schwarber
- Realmuto
- Castellanos
- Stott
- Hoskins
- Marsh
The Phillies lost in Game 6 of the World Series. All you need is Turner at shortstop and the lineup is completely reworked for next season. Period.
