Claude Giroux Returns to Philadelphia

Preview: Claude Giroux returns to Philadelphia to take on the 7-4-2 Flyers

Well, here we go.

Claude Giroux Back in Philadelphia

Claude Giroux will return to South Philadelphia for the first time since being traded away last year for Owen Tippett. Carter Hart will get the start in goal today. You can catch the game on NBCSP at 1pm.

Welcome back, Claude

For us personally (and thousands of others) Claude Giroux was a huge part of both me and my co-hosts childhood. This guy was exactly what it meant to be a Flyer on and off the ice.

Now it’s starting to feel real that he’s gone.

It didn’t really hit me before that he’s no longer a Flyer and today might be the day it finally smacks me in the face.

Giroux scored against his former team last Saturday in Ottawa, but the Flyers came back and won that game 2-1.

The 19th captain in franchise history returns to Philly

Thank you, @28CGiroux. For all the memories than an entire generation of #Flyers fans won’t forget.

Carter Hart

Carter Hart will get the start in goal again today. He’s currently 6-1-1 with a 2.09 GAA and a .941 sv%.

Johnny Gaudreau capitalized on every mistake the Flyers made on Thursday, so I really wouldn’t blame Hart for those goals.

When you turn over the puck twice in the NZ (looking at you Tippett) to Johnny Hockey, you deserve whatever comes next.

Flyers Lineup Stays The Same

John Tortorella will roll out the same forward lines and defensive pairs today that he did against CBJ.

  • Tippett – Hayes – Konency
  • Farabee – Laughton – Allison
  • Sedlak – Cates – MacEwen
  • Deslauriers – Frost – Laczynski
  • Provorov – DeAngelo
  • Sanheim – Braun
  • Seeler – Ristolainen
  • Hart

Key Today: Get off to a quick start

The Flyers have only scored the first goal three times this season (NSH, STL & TOR). Getting off to a quick start in a building that’s for sure going to be filled with a ton of emotion is big.

Giroux got off to a quick start last Saturday in Ottawa, scoring just 2:44 into the 1st period.

Should’ve bet that because G popping up on the scoresheet that night was a lock.
