Flyers fall to the Dallas Stars 5-1, have lost 7 of their last 10

Well, the Flyers have dropped back to back games this weekend and have fallen to a record of 7-6-2.
Dallas is just too good
Dallas is an extremely talented team and it’s not a shock to see despite the Flyers effort level being there, the talent gap is just too big.
Jason Robertson looks like one of the best young players in the NHL. He has 8 multi-point games already, putting him top 5 in the league in the category.
Dallas’ power play is an extremely scary thing to deal with when playing them. Ranking 4th in the league…they went 2/3 tonight.
The compete is there
Other than the 4th goal for Dallas (that was an absolutely disgusting lack of effort from everyone on the ice) the Flyers compete level has been there today.
I think that’s something that can be said for the start of the season…it’s just that the skill-gap between the Flyers and most teams they face is too big.
We all knew the Flyers start to the season, with Hart putting up a .946 sv%, wasn’t going to last. We’re finally starting to see what happens when your goalie can’t stand on his head and keep you in games you’re not supposed to be in.
If you were to look at the shot totals of the Flyers last 10ish games, your takeaway would be a bit misleading.
The Flyers started out the season winning games they were ultimately supposed to lose and now they’re starting to let games slip in where they outshoot teams.
They lost 4-1 to Giroux and the Senators yesterday, despite outshooting them 38-27.
They outshot CBJ 34-29 but lost due to Johnny Hockey capitalizing on two brutal turnovers by Owen Tippett.
It’s been weird but they’re starting to come back down to earth and look like the team we all knew they were going to be.
A tough, hard nosed team that work their asses off but at the end of the night…just are not skilled enough to compete with most teams in the NHL, especially the Stars.
PP is comical
The Flyers went 0/6 on the power play today, making them 0/9 (0/3 vs Ottawa on Sat) on the power play in the last 2 games.
After this weekend…the units needs to be switched up immediately. Morgan Frost made a couple things happen on PP2 and seemed more willingly to try and create a play in general today.
I’d take Laughton off PP1 and replace him with either Frost or Farabee and try and shake things up.
The Flyers will head to Columbus on Tuesday. Puck drop at 7:30.
