Fletcher Cox sounds off on playing too many snaps vs. Washington: “I feel like shit”

DT Fletcher Cox probably had flashbacks of the Chip Kelly days on Monday night as the defense stayed on the field for over 40 minutes in their loss to Washington.
Cox, who will be 32 next month, played 70 defensive snaps on Monday — the most he’s played in four years. Cox was asked about how his body felt two days later:

“You want the truth? I feel like shit. It ain’t a good feeling, but you do what you need to do to win the game. Seventy snaps in 70 snaps.”
The 11-year veteran went on the say that the run defense is something they have to fix and their recent performances aren’t “like them.” Cox briefly entertained free agency before signing a one-year, $14M deal to return to Philadelphia last offseason.
After having 3.0 sacks in the first three games, Cox has tapered off, recording just one tackle for loss and two QB hits over the last six weeks. The Eagles hope to slow down Jonathan Taylor and the Colts this Sunday with the help of new DT Linval Joseph.
If Linval Joseph has any juice left, he’ll be a nice rotational piece for the Eagles.
