Preview: Flyers looking to avoid 10-game losing streak against Islanders

If you watched yesterdays lackluster performance against the Penguins, let me start out by saying…I’m sorry you had to watch that.
If you had to pick a game this season that was almost exactly like what this team was last season, last night was the game.
Just total lack of any sort of energy.
We all knew the Flyers were going to be a bad team, even if they were healthy, but now with 5 of the 6 guys that would be in the top-six injured, it’s far worse than what even we all predicted.
Last night was almost laughably bad. It looked like the Penguins were genuinely playing against an AHL team.
Since their 7th win of the season (Nov. 8th vs STL) the Flyers are:
– 32nd in the league in PP% (7.1%)
– 32nd in GA (40)
– 31st in the league in PK% (65.4%)
They’re bad. We all know this but last night was the first time the effort wasn’t able to overshadow (somewhat) the lack of talent.
Projected lineup vs NYI
Farabee – Hayes – Tippett
Bellows – Frost – MacEwen
N. Cates – J. Cates – Laczynski
Deslauriers – Sedlak – Brown
Who starts?
The goalies haven’t been announce as of yet (will update when they do) but you’d assume Tortorella would want to get Hart back out there after pulling him for Sandstrom yesterday.
Despite Hart coming back down to earth in front of a terrible team, he’s still one of the best goalies in the league this year.
I’d expect him to get the start tonight.
*UPDATE*
The Islanders have won 5 of their last 7 games, beating CBJ, OTT, TOR, EDM & CBJ again last night.
Both teams are on a back to back so I don’t want to hear any bullshit about the Flyers “being tired” when they inevitably get smacked up.
Prediction: 4-1 Islanders
