Iranian State Affiliated-Media company turns US World Cup Press Conference into a total mess with stupid, irrelevant, political questions

For those of you who read The Liberty Line, I’m pretty sure you already know how I feel about mixing politics and sports. It’s never a good idea and only results in stupid arguments and political discourse that takes away from the sporting event.
We have the perfect example, thanks to the USMNT facing Iran tomorrow in the final Group B match of the 2022 World Cup. During the US Press Conference earlier today, USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter and Captain Tyler Adams fielded a bunch of questions from a state-affiliated media company from Iran.
Obviously, just reading that is enough to let out a loud, disappointing “sigh” but it’s the World Cup in Qatar, a country that has been criticized a million times for the last six months do to their strict laws against pretty much everything.
So, outside of the commonly known tension between Iran and the United States, things really escalated over the past few days due to some social media posts floating around that seemed to trigger the Iranians. Tasnim News Agency, a Iran state-affiliated media company, took to Twitter to cry about a “distorted image of the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran” on it’s official account.
Because of that, the state-affiliated media company thinks that the USMNT deserves a 10-game suspension and also that they must forfeit their match tomorrow.
Real rich coming from a state-affiliated media agency that literally has a burning American flag in their header on Twitter.

Still, these state-affiliated media members do have a point and someone at USMNT HQ decided to send a political message on Twitter, pissing everyone off in the process. Great job there, way to keep the focus on the World Cup and our national team away from all this political commentary.
Super helpful. (Not Really)
That definitely played a part in both Berhalter and Adams getting grilled during the US Press Conference today.
Luckily, Adams is a class-act and answered the question with a perfect response.

“There’s discrimination everywhere you go is one thing I’ve become aware of having lived abroad. We [the US] have continued to make progress, education is super important, as you just educated me. it’s a process and as long as you see progress, that’s the most important thing”
In all seriousness, every country has their own problems and the fact that Iranian state-affiliated media availability to criticize the United States and wag their fingers in front of our head coach and team captain is beyond pathetic.
The USMNT has one final match in the Group stage of the 2022 World Cup against Iran tomorrow at 2PM. They will need to win tomorrow’s match in order to get out of Group B, after failing to secure a victory over Wales and England. Both matches, as you already know, ended in draws.
Now, it all comes down to US vs Iran. Here’s the two scenarios at play tomorrow afternoon.
Look, no one needs “extra motivation” in a World Cup elimination game but damn, do I want to absolutely DESTROY Iran tomorrow for bringing this nonsense to the forefront of the World Cup while everyone is just trying to play some soccer.
And again, whoever is running the Twitter account for the USMNT, be better and stop putting our boys in the middle of this political shit show unfolding in Qatar.
