Carnival Cruise passenger goes overboard, found 15 hours later treading water in the Gulf of Mexico

Here’s a pretty interesting story coming out of the Gulf of Mexico. A 28-year old passenger on the Carnival Valor cruise ship was miraculously rescued after falling overboard and spending 15 hours treading water.
Carnival Cruise Passenger Rescued 15-Hours Later
The 28-year-old Carnival Valor passenger who was miraculously rescued after spending 15 hours treading water in the Gulf of Mexico disappeared after he was repeatedly told to stop vaping by staff, it was claimed.
A passenger on board the ship, Whitney Gaines, told DailyMail.com that she sat next to the missing man’s family at breakfast the morning after he vanished. The family were talking about how he didn’t come back to his room that night.
Gaines said that his family were talking about how ‘he kept getting in trouble for vaping in non-designated smoke areas, because there’s only one area where you can really go smoke.’
From the always trustworthy Daily Mail
Jeez. There’s a lot to unpack here.
Falling off a cruise ship and treading water for 15 hours aside, what is the crew on Carnival doing to this poor kid?
All of the sudden you can’t smoke on the open seas? That doesn’t seem logical. I literally hit my NJOY vape pen everywhere. Inside, outside, on planes, on boats, you name it baby, I’m vaping.
Any rules against vaping are beyond stupid and are simply a power grab. Does the crew need more work to do? Maybe go mop the deck or fluff some pillows. Hounding a kid for vaping is hardly an issue. At the very least, I will scratch any plans (none) of going on a cruise ship off my to-do list. If you can’t vape then there’s no shot I’m getting on one. Easy.
Anyways, you probably think I’m going to talk about this kid treading water now, right?
Nope.
We’re going to focus on the kid’s sister, who must hate her brother.
Gaines also said that the missing man’s sister said that she had been with him in one of the ship’s bars. ‘She said he was with me. And then he wasn’t.’
All of the bars on board the Valor close at 11 pm, his disappearance prompted the family to continue to search the ship until 3 am. Earlier it was reported that the man’s sister waited until noon the next day to report him missing, according to KPLC 7. The ship was searched, but he was not found. The crew called the Coast Guard at 2.30pm.
“He was with me, then he wasn’t.”
Cool. Nice work sister. You really provided some key information to the people who were up until 3AM searching the entire ship for your vape-addicted brother. HUGE help on your part.
Not to mention, you don’t even report him missing until noon the next day? What is this, the Idaho Murders? Cmon sis, you have to be on top of your brother who just vanished on a cruise ship at 11PM the night before.
Even if nobody can find them, the first thought has to be he fell overboard.
Maybe she was a little too drunk herself and didn’t know what was going on? That would be a fair reason in my book. That’s like me hopping on Fox Sports to talk about the Eagles after blacking out in the early evening on a night game. I have no idea what’s happening and just stick with “well the Eagles are now 10-1 so there’s not much to say.”
Even the family calling off the search at 3AM and what, just going to sleep hoping their son will show up the next morning?
How hard did these people search for their own flesh and blood?
I assume they just thought he was passed out drunk somewhere but still, it seems pretty odd that the search was called off at 3AM and an official “missing” report wasn’t filed until around noon the following day.
This poor kid is out there treading water and fighting for his life and everyone else just went along with their vacation thinking he was just hiding and vaping his little heart out in a random part of the cruise ship.
Classic Daily Mail not having any reasoning as to why this kid fell overboard in the first place or how he managed to turn into Michael Phelps in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico for 15 hours.
Pretty impressive if you ask me.
