Injuries Abound as DeAngelo Exits Lineup; Laughton Returns

Tony DeAngelo–like many other Flyers nominally on the roster–is dead. Okay, that may be marginally hyperbolic…but he most certainly is not playing tonight. That was announced only moments ago.
DeAngelo’s injury is listed as lower’s body, but it is almost certainly related to the shot he blocked in the embarrassment of a game against the Penguins. It’s a foot or ankle issue. And I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that a bone was broken, but that is just speculation on my part.
An already anemic power
He tried to tough it out, both against the Islanders and before leaving practice today. In a way, it’s commendable. DeAngelo has done many things to bring himself into question over the years, but his toughness is one thing that shouldn’t be doubted.
Speaking of toughing things out, at least we have ONE player who is apparently past the point of needing to do that. Scott Laughton will return to the lineup.
To make room for this actual healthy player–a phrase that still doesn’t seem real–Jackson Cates has been loaned to the Phantoms. Otherwise known as “Lappy’s Gulag”
Gulag or no, it is probably a vastly preferable destination to the team that is likely to lose its 11th straight game before facing off against some of the best teams in the league in December.
