Nola, Schwarber, Realmuto, and Turner Get All-MLB Honors
Trea Turner is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, hitting .298/.343/.466 with 21 HRs and 100 RBIs in 160 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He posted an OPS+ of 121 while stealing 27 bases as well. Turner just recently won a gold glove as well, but will now wear red pinstripes for the next 11 years after the Phillies inked him to a $300M contract earlier today.
JT’s 2022 got off to a rough start, hitting under .270 in the first three months, including a .225 average in June, one of the worst months of his career. Everything flipped around once Bryce Harper got hurt, leading to Realmuto’s best month of his career in July, slashing .358/.423/.642 with 5 HRs, 17 RBIs, and 24 hits in 67 ABs. He would continue to dominate throughout the rest of the season, hitting .303 in August and .273. Realmuto stayed lethal behind the plate as well, holding a .993 fielding percentage in 1,131 innings, throwing out 26% of runners, which would bring him the second Gold Glove of his career.
Aaron Nola, despite much critique and criticism, had a fantastic 2022 season. The Phillies ace pitched 205 innings in the regular season, tallying an 11-13 record and a 3.25 ERA. He struck out a career-high 235 batters while walking just 29. Nola had a whopping 8.10 K/BB ratio, along with an ERA+ of 125 and a WHIP of 0.961. Nola finished 4th in NL Cy Young voting.
Kyle Schwarber’s first regular season as a Philadelphia Phillie was a major success, slashing .218/.323/.504 in 155 games played. Schwarber crushed 46 HRs, good for 1st in the National League and 2nd in all of baseball, along with 94 RBIs. Along with the long ball, Schwarber hit leadoff most of the season, tallying 126 hits, 100 runs scored, 21 doubles, and three triples.
