Preview: Flyers at Avalanche; Hart can’t save us now

The Philadelphia Flyers are in Colorado to take on the injured Avalanche.
Morgan Frost will look to build on his career night in Arizona and Cam York has a great opportunity to keep proving himself to the team. Felix Sandstrom will finally get the start for Philadelphia after sitting for seven games.

Colorado is a shell of themselves most notably missing superstar Nathan MacKinnon. Philadelphia managed to sneak out a win at home against this squad last week but you have to expect the Avalanche to be ready for this one. Imagine getting swept in the season series by the Philadelphia Flyers?
For the Flyers it’s always been about building the foundation through the young guys. After a 20+ game AHL stint, Cam York is getting praised by the coach and is getting his chance. Morgan Frost had the best game of his entire life on Sunday vs. Arizona.

The most beautiful part to me though? They still improved their draft position. Players aren’t completely demoralized and instead appear to be gaining confidence. My only wish is that Sandstrom would play more than he does given that we are clearly not making the playoffs.

It’s all about the big picture and when you take a step back this year isn’t as bad as it may seem. Cutter Gauthier is on the horizon, but for now we’re hopefully watching the continued success of Cam York, Morgan Frost, and other big pieces of our future. Although John Tortorella may be sending a message to Joel Farabee with his lineup placement tonight.
Hopefully we get a competitive game tonight that’s fun to watch, and hopefully we still end up losing.
Prediction: 4-1 Avalanche
